ALL-COUNTY BAND, ALL-DISTRICT BAND, AND ALL-STATE HONORS BAND
This is an opportunity for Salem band students who have
at least one year's experience to see how they rank among
middle school band students from across Wake County, Central
North Carolina, and the entire state. All-County, All-District,
and All-State Band members from Salem will be immortalized
on the wall of our bandroom. The three requirements for auditions
are:
-
Eight scales
-
Prepared
solo
-
Sightreading
Those
that make the band will only be involved in two rehearsals and
one performance. Call any time with questions or email
Mr. Hinson. Advanced band members are expected to audition.
Intermediate band and advanced Beginning band members may audition
as well. No one ever made anything without trying!
BAND HOMEWORK
Parents, be sure to monitor and sign your child's practice
chart every week. I recommend 30 minutes every weekday to
achieve the required 150 minutes per week. There is always
a practice assignment. End each session with something fun!
PTA and BAND
Parents, help your child and his/her performing arts class
by being a part of the Salem
PTA! No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Private lessons are an advantage of living in a metropolitan
area, such as the Triangle. Please take advantage of one-on-one
instruction by a professional musician who plays the instrument
your child is learning. This, combined with band class, will
give your child the complete instrumental music education.
Contact Mr. Hinson for details and a list if area private
teachers.
